SEO Specialist
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and results-driven SEO Specialist to join our growing digital marketing team.
You will be responsible for managing SEO campaigns for multiple clients, primarily small and medium-sized businesses in the UK, with a strong focus on Local SEO, Google Business Profile optimisation, technical SEO, keyword research, on-page optimisation, content strategy and link building.
The ideal candidate should be able to independently analyse websites, identify SEO opportunities, implement improvements and report on performance.
Key Responsibilities
SEO Strategy
- Develop and implement SEO strategies based on each client’s business goals.
- Conduct detailed keyword research and competitor analysis.
- Create SEO plans for local and national businesses.
- Monitor Google algorithm updates and adapt strategies accordingly.
On-Page SEO
- Optimise page titles, meta descriptions, headings and content.
- Improve internal linking structures.
- Optimise URLs, images, alt text and other on-page elements.
- Identify keyword cannibalisation and content gaps.
- Create recommendations for new service and location landing pages.
- Optimise websites for search intent and conversions.
Technical SEO
- Perform technical SEO audits.
- Identify and resolve issues relating to:
- Crawling and indexing
- Sitemap and robots.txt
- Canonical tags
- Redirects
- Broken links
- Duplicate content
- Core Web Vitals
- Mobile usability
- Schema markup
- Work with WordPress developers to implement technical SEO improvements.
Local SEO
- Optimise and manage Google Business Profiles.
- Improve local rankings and Google Maps visibility.
- Conduct local keyword research.
- Build and optimise location/service landing pages.
- Manage local citations and directories.
- Analyse local competitors.
- Develop strategies to improve local organic visibility.
- Understand Google Business Profile guidelines and suspension/reinstatement processes.
Link Building
- Develop high-quality backlink strategies.
- Research relevant websites and link opportunities.
- Conduct competitor backlink analysis.
- Monitor backlink profiles.
- Identify and report toxic or low-quality links.
- Focus on quality and relevance rather than large numbers of backlinks.
SEO Tools & Reporting
The candidate should be comfortable using tools such as:
- Google Search Console
- Google Analytics
- Google Business Profile
- SEMrush
- Ahrefs
- Screaming Frog
- Google Keyword Planner
- PageSpeed Insights
- Looker Studio or similar reporting tools
Client Work
- Manage SEO campaigns for multiple clients.
- Provide monthly SEO reports.
- Explain SEO performance and recommendations clearly.
- Track rankings, organic traffic, conversions and other KPIs.
- Communicate progress and issues to the internal team.
- Meet agreed deadlines and campaign targets.
Required Skills & Experience
- 2+ years of practical SEO experience.
- Strong understanding of Google Search and ranking factors.
- Proven experience with Local SEO.
- Strong Google Business Profile knowledge.
- Experience working with WordPress websites.
- Strong keyword research and competitor analysis skills.
- Good understanding of technical SEO.
- Experience with SEO tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs or Screaming Frog.
- Understanding of link building and digital PR.
- Good written English.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with UK, Europe, Australia, and North America SEO.
- Experience working with service-based businesses such as:
- Roofing
- Paving
- Construction

- Dental
- Legal
- Trades
- Experience with Google Ads and PPC.
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS.
- Experience with schema markup.
- Experience creating SEO content briefs.
- Experience with AI-assisted SEO tools and workflows.
- Experience with Google Business Profile suspensions and appeals.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is hands-on and results-focused, rather than someone who only produces SEO reports.
You should be able to look at a website and answer:
What is preventing this website from ranking, what needs to be changed, and how will we measure whether it worked?
You should also be comfortable taking ownership of SEO campaigns from audit through to implementation and reporting.
